Qualified as a lawyer, Juan Ignacio worked for 13 years with RSA Insurance
Group, performing different senior roles in the legal and claims arenas
in Chile and Latino America, including Latin American, Legal Officer (2005
- 2006) and Claims & Legal Vice-president of RSA, Chile (2007 –
2010), Chile´s non – life insurance market leader. In this
role, he led RSA´s response to the 27 F Chile Earthquake and Tsunami,
heading up an overall Claims team of more
than 120 people, in charge of handling 33.000 different business lines
claims, including more than 300 multi-million dollar losses.
Project-managing major and complex commercial claims, catastrophe team management and co-ordination, development of programs for mana-ging portfolios of claims, evaluation of reserving policies, claims spend and regulatory compliance. Change management, due diligence for M & A, ‘Best Practice’ reviews, audit and review, earthquake, fire and flood damage assessments together with repair period evaluation work at major industrial/commercial properties, pre-loss risk management and technical training.
Managing a range of multi-million dollar industrial losses following severe
Earthquake and Tsunami damage in Chile (2010); An insurance program review
for a multi-billion dollar mining corporation based in Chile; heading
a ‘Lessons Learned’ project following the 27 F Chilean earthquake
(2011).
