FitzGerald Consulting España – Excellent growth

Set up three years ago, our business in Spain, FitzGerald Consulting España, continues to make excellent progress. Under the leadership of Javier Espeja as CEO, supported by his Technical Director colleague, Angel Carretero, we have rapidly built up a first-rate portfolio of clients and different types of claim. These include CAT incidents (most recently flood); major Property/Business Interruption cases, eg recent total loss of a plastics factory; international cases, especially in Chile (where we have another subsidiary, FitzGerald Consulting Latin America); and a particular specialism in Renewables, eg several wind-farm losses and photovoltaic plants. Further investment has been made in the company to support continued growth and we look forward to giving all our existing, and new, clients high-quality and cost-effective service.

New product contamination case

NEW PRODUCT CONTAMINATION CASE

We have recently been appointed to work on a multi-million $ major loss in Latin America, following a wide-scale product contamination there.  The project will involve a mixed team of our most senior personnel and other specialists/experts.  These will be drawn from both our UK and Lat Am businesses.

New office on the West Coast of Scotland

Claims investigation and claims handling services

New West Coast of Scotland Office

Our staff have a wealth of practical experience dealing with all types of insurance claims and in particular marine and construction personal injury claims. We also have experience of dealing with MAIB and HSE investigations.

We know that time is of the essence to capture the relevant evidence as quickly as possible before the scene changes or memories fade. In the current litigious environment it is rare a significant incident does not give rise to a claim.

Our new west coast office covers the west cost of Scotland from Fort William in the South to Ullapool to the north. This is an area which is poorly served for claims investigation or taking statements particularly for marine related claims.

The west coast office is managed by senior consultant (David Rogers) who has access to a support team who can react speedily no matter where the incident occurs, or the investigation has to take place.

We provide the following services:

    1. · Support for claims, involving Litigation, Mediation and Arbitration.

· Recording of witness statements.
· Personal injury investigations both for insurers and for any statutory enquiries that may follow.
· Construction and property claims, of all types,
· Business Interruption claims,

If you have any specific needs, then please do not hesitate to contact David Rogers on 07740 409053 or drog47@btopenworld.com to see if we can be of assistance.

FitzGerald Consulting & Covid 19 claims

Our company has for the past few months been working with a leading UK insurer on its potential Covid 19 exposure.

We were appointed at Board level to support the company with advice and guidance on – strategic management; governance; audit; and adjusting issues.

This was part of a major project planning for the handling of potentially many thousands of complex Business Interruption claims.

Our company has worked with Insurers/Reinsurers on post-loss CAT management for the past 20 years.  This was the first time we have used the skills we have built up on pre-planning a potential CAT event.

Airmic Conference

This year’s Airmic Conference earlier this month was a virtual event – which attracted an extremely good audience from across the insurance industry.

Bev FitzGerald joined a panel of leading industry figures to give a presentation plus Q & A on ‘Excellence in Major Claims’.

This was very well received.  One attendee commented – ‘One session which particularly inspired me was on excellence in major claims.  The expert panel discussed the importance of communication between all parties.  What came through loud and clear was that great communication is a huge investment in time and must be factored into Claims planning.  The session also discussed the issue of trust and how vital it is for loss adjusters to establish trust following a claim.’

The whole presentation and Q & A can be viewed on Airmic’s website until March next year.

Welcome to Richard Cook

My director colleagues and I are very pleased to welcome Richard Cook as a new Senior Consultant colleague to our company.

Richard is a highly experienced and well-qualified Claims man who has been working within and for the Lloyd’s and London insurance/reinsurance Market for many years.

With a high reputation there, he will add significantly to our operational and business development capabilities in that Market.

His specialist business skills, personality and integrity match our company’s culture and services and, working together, I am confident that this will prove a successful combination.

A strong focus on CAT events

Our company’s strong focus on CAT events continues.  Currently, we are working on claims arising from three events worldwide – the floods in the UK; Hurricane Dorian claims in the Bahamas; and, the riots in Chile at the end of last year.  Dedicated adjusters in the firm are handling these cases from beginning to end, supporting policyholders and our insurance Market clients.

Welcome to Nick Croan

We are delighted to welcome Nick Croan as our new Senior Consultant representative for Scotland. Nick is a highly experienced chartered loss adjuster. Most recently, he has been working in our CAT team deployed to the Bahamas where we have successfully concluded claims worth many millions of dollars.

Bev FitzGerald was delighted to join the PRA’s panel which covered a wide range of key issues facing the industry at the moment.
