    paella for 90 FC Espana (9/21/2023) - FC Espana recently hosted a family weekend in the beautiful mountains of Guadalajara attended by many of the key players in the Madrid insurance market.  This is an annual event started nine years ago by our Managing Director in Spain, Javier Espeja.  Our directors in the UK were delighted to join him and his guests.  Following previous tradition, Javier cooked a paella for the 90 attendees.  Big pan!!

    Visit to Spain (6/22/2022) - Two of our UK directors recently visited Spain to meet director colleagues and key clients of FitzGerald Consulting Espana.  This company continues to grow very strongly – locally and internationally.  It has in particular built up an excellent reputation for handling claims in the ‘Renewables’ sector.  While we were in Madrid, our colleagues, Javier Espeja and Angel Carretero, were putting the final touches to a trip to Africa to deal with six separate such claims there.   The photo shows Javier and Angel, plus Bev FitzGerald and Katy Emerson, together with two clients.
    Drinks reception (6/14/2022) - On 7 June, we co-hosted a drinks reception in the City Club in London with other members of Context International, the global adjusting network. We are the sole UK representatives. At the same time as celebrating that relationship, we also marked our UK company’s 20th anniversary since being founded. On a lovely English summer evening, we finally met our friends and colleagues in the Market in person – many of our clients having been with us since we started the business – and welcomed several new clients too.

    FitzGerald Consulting & Covid 19 claims (10/5/2020) - Our company has for the past few months been working with a leading UK insurer on its potential Covid 19 exposure. We were appointed at Board level to support the company with advice and guidance on – strategic management; governance; audit; and adjusting issues. This was part of a major project planning for the handling of potentially many thousands of complex Business Interruption claims. Our company has worked with Insurers/Reinsurers on post-loss CAT management for the past 20 years.  This was the first time we have used the skills we have built up on pre-planning a potential CAT event.
    Airmic Conference (10/5/2020) - This year’s Airmic Conference earlier this month was a virtual event – which attracted an extremely good audience from across the insurance industry. Bev FitzGerald joined a panel of leading industry figures to give a presentation plus Q & A on ‘Excellence in Major Claims’.     Bank of England Bev FitzGerald at the Bank of England PRA division panel discussion (11/25/2019) - The Bank of England’s PRA division (Prudential Regulatory Authority) recently hosted a panel discussion in London for over 100 representatives from the UK’s insurance industry. The audience mainly comprised Claims and Actuarial colleagues from insurance/reinsurance companies.     Imran Ramzan Welcome to Imran Ramzan (11/25/2019) - We are delighted to welcome a new associate to our adjusting team. Imran Ramzan is a highly qualified chartered loss adjuster/chartered insurer who is based in Coventry.     Hurricane in the Bahamas BAHAMAS – HURRICANE DORIAN (10/24/2019) - Following the set-up of our new FitzGerald Consulting business in this territory, we are delighted to say that we have been appointed on a significant portfolio of work there.     Bev Conferences in the US (10/8/2018) - Also in September, we attended two conferences in the US – the Insurance QA Conference in Boston and the 5th Annual New York City Reinsurance Conference. Both of these featured very senior speakers from the global insurance Market and covered a range of topics highly relevant to our business. It was especially interesting to hear about leading-edge developments in data management; AI; and InsureTech. And, of course, it was helpful to meet and discuss these developments and how they impact the Claims business with senior players in the Market.
    Presentation at the iNED workshop (10/8/2018) - At the end of September, Bev FitzGerald gave a presentation to over 90 attendees at a prestigious iNED workshop held by the Worshipful Company of Insurers in London. iNED is aimed at Non-Executive Directors and other senior personnel involved in the insurance industry. The workshop focused on managing Catastrophe incidents from a Board perspective.     International Risk Management Conference (5/12/2017) - Our MD, Bev FitzGerald, recently attended and spoke as a keynote speaker at a conference in Kazakhstan. The XIIIth International Risk Management Conference in that country was held in Almaty. It attracted over 200 attendees from 40 different countries and included high-level speakers from the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange and other State authorities. In addition to giving his own presentation, Bev joined a very interesting panel debate on geo-political issues in Central Asia and was also interviewed by the local national television station.     CAT planning (3/16/2017) - Bev FitzGerald has just returned from Canada where he devised and facilitated a CAT scenario for an insurer client there. This involved severe damage to Vancouver City following a major earthquake off the coast of British Columbia. The scenario test was attended by the client’s senior management and proved an excellent opportunity to take key learnings from a hypothetical rather than an actual event. Experts predict such an event is a very high risk that could not only seriously impact the insurance market in Canada, but also its entire economy.
    Context International European Audit (3/16/2017) - The company has just been appointed by a major UK insurer to carry out an audit throughout several European countries. This is where the international network that we have built up over the years comes into its own.     Bev at Claims conference 6th Annual Claims Management Conference (1/30/2017) - Bev FitzGerald was invited to speak at the 6th Annual Claims Management Conference in Amsterdam which took place on 26/27 January this year.     CAT event Conclusion of New Zealand project – Christchurch earthquake claims (1/30/2017) - At the end of last year, we concluded over 5 years’ involvement in New Zealand, supporting local and international insurers/reinsurers on the 2010/2011 earthquakes which destroyed much of Christchurch and the surrounding areas.     Ecuador earthquake CAT Ecuador – Earthquake CAT – 2016 (10/24/2016) - Following the initial visit made in June by Bev FitzGerald and an engineering adjuster from our new associate in Mexico, Kimsi & Associates, we are pleased to say that our London-based reinsurer client accepted our recommendations for certain follow-up work.     CAT event FCL signs new contract with major Japanese insurer (3/14/2016) - We are delighted to have signed a new contract with MSIG (Mitsui) for the provision of CAT management and loss adjusting services. This follows on from work FCL carried out with the insurer on outstanding major loss cases from the Thai flood CAT.
    FCL join the Context International global adjusting network (2/1/2016) - In May 2015, FitzGerald Consulting was invited to join the relatively new Context International global adjusting network.  Progress on this new relationship internally and externally in the Market has been very good.  During the past three months, 20 new adjusting cases have been passed between the associate members of the network.  In the UK, this involved our company in passing CI, Germany a new and complex £250k products liability claim for a completely new client attracted by the technical skills and wide coverage of our network.
    Chile – a major agri-business products liability claim (2/1/2016) - Chile – At the beginning of this new year, our business in this country was appointed to deal with a major agri-business products liability claim following the wide-scale contamination of farming land. This is a sensitive, multi-million $ loss which the Managing Director of our Latin American business based in Chile, Juan Ignacio Alvarez, is handling personally.

    FitzGerald Consulting to Chile (9/26/2015) - On Wednesday 16th September, another devastating earthquake struck Chile, with Santiago, Valparaíso, and several coastal towns badly affected. The 8.3 magnitude earthquake, which occurred 228km from Santiago, just offshore in the Pacific, is the latest of many to hit Chile in recent years, and has so far claimed the lives of at least 11 people, with more deaths expected to be confirmed.     FitzGerald Consulting appointed to $ multi-million bullion claim (8/21/2015) - FitzGerald Consulting was recently appointed to adjust a multi-million dollar insurance claim relating to a major bullion robbery in Hatton Garden in April of this year. The sensational heist took place over the Easter Weekend and is one of the biggest of its kind in British history. The robbers emptied as many as 73 safe deposit boxes in the underground Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Company, located in London’s ‘Diamond District’, and escaped with many million pounds worth of precious jewellery, bullion and other valuables.     ‘Wet’ perils – Leakage – How Insurers can increase profit and client satisfaction (2/4/2015) - These perils – flood, storm and escape of water – represent a major part of any insurer’s indemnity spend, particularly on Personal lines – and especially of course during a CAT situation.     NEW ZEALAND – Canterbury Earthquakes 2010 – 2011 (6/2/2017) - On 4 September 2010, the Canterbury Region of New Zealand was rocked by a shallow 7.1 magnitude earthquake, 38km west of Christchurch City Centre. This triggered a sequence of major earthquakes, travelling east through the centre of the city and out into the Pacific Ocean. On 22 February 2011, a high intensity 6.3M earthquake occurred just 5km beneath the Port Hills on the southern outskirts, leading to widespread destruction within the city and 185 fatalities.     CANADA – flooding in Calgary and Toronto June 2013 (9/20/2015) - In June 2013, severe floods devastated the City of Calgary in the Canadian province of Alberta. They were caused by unusually heavy rains combined with the melting ice cap from the Rocky Mountains, the result of which was that the Bow and Elbow Rivers burst their banks simultaneously. The floods were declared by the Provincial Government to be the worst in Alberta’s history. Five people were killed and a further 100,000 were displaced by the flooding. Huge damage was sustained to high-profile sites such as the Calgary Zoo and the Scotiabank Saddledome, home to the Calgary Flames Ice Hockey Team.read more
    Chile earthquake CHILE – Restoring a country’s stability (7/4/2015) - 2010 in Chile – a devastating earthquake… Measuring 8.8MW on the Richter scale occurred at 03.34hrs local time on Saturday February 27th 2010, in South Central Chile. 90 minutes later a tsunami inundated over 500kms of coastline. 700 people were killed, 12,000 injured and 1,000,000 lost their homes or workplaces. Shock waves caused damage in Santiago; over 400kms from the epicentre. 250 aftershocks of magnitude 5.0 or greater were recorded. Transport, telecommunication networks, power and water supplies were all severely disrupted, some for several weeks.
