FitzGerald Consulting to Chile – Update

Last week, FitzGerald Consulting Managing Director Bev FitzGerald returned from a week in Chile, where he had been assessing the damage caused by the earthquake which hit the country on Wednesday 16th September.

Although there was significant damage caused by the earthquake, it was nowhere near as wide-ranging as initially feared, and certainly not on the scale of that which struck Chile in 2010, a long-term project for FitzGerald Consulting.

Recent reports suggest the country has made a very promising recovery following the disaster and there have been only 13 deaths recorded, a remarkably low figure considering the strength of the earthquake.

Whilst there, Bev had the opportunity to liaise with Juan Ignacio Alvarez, MD of FitzGerald Consulting LAT, plus various insurance company clients and service providers in that market.

FCL’s Latin American branch is handling several claims for one of our key clients – a major global insurance company – in our capacity as their outsourced claims department, and the trip provided a perfect opportunity for Bev to view some of this work first-hand.

FCL LAT has already provided the client with detailed individual reserves, an overall reserve estimate and a comprehensive summary of the incident, and their work on these claims is ongoing.
