Our first appointment was to assist a major international insurer based in the UK with some of the largest claims to arise out of 9/11. From that we developed a template for managing CAT events, covering a wide range of both operational and technical aspects as well as reinsurance issues. Subsequently, we have been appointed to work, very successfully, on numerous CAT events including hurricanes, floods, explosions and the devastating earthquakes which have occurred in Italy, Chile and New Zealand. After our work in Chile we won a prestigious British Insurance Award for the manner and speed with which we enabled a UK based insurer to close $1.8bn of losses within 18 months.
