Bev FitzGerald has recently returned from a Covid-delayed trip to Chile and Peru.

He was joined there by members of our business based in Santiago, Chile including our resident director, Juan Ignacio Alvarez; Paulo Correa; and Andres Parra.

During a week-long visit, we met numerous senior people from the insurance markets in both Santiago and Lima. We received an excellent reception. The market was especially interested by our linked businesses in the UK, Spain and Chile which offer first-rate access to the important London and Madrid markets.

It was also clear that there was strong demand for high-quality, personalised adjusting of ‘Energy’ losses, both conventional and renewable. We handle these across all our businesses, with particularly specialist directors based in Spain – Javier Espeja and Angel Carretero.

Similarly, the market was impressed by our handling of CAT and major PD/BI losses – such as a $100million US ‘Riot’ case where are appointed by the London Market.

We are following up with proposals to clients focusing on CAT planning and our international CAT team based in the UK under the leadership of director, Graeme Shurben.
